Go Contraflow!

Dear Friends,
We all know that cycling in Toronto can be dangerous.
Our municipal and provincial governments have a responsibility to keep us safe and encourage active transportation. One easy, affordable way to do this is to invest in contraflow bike lanes to provide safer cycling options for Torontonians.
The installment of contraflow bike lanes in Toronto has been stalled for almost 5 years.

In May 2012, I wrote to the Minister of Transportation to request that he clarify that the Highway Traffic Act allows contraflow lanes in our cities.
This November, Councillor Mike Layton brought forward a motion to Toronto City Council also asking for clarity from the Ministry.
Jared Kolb, on behalf of Cycle Toronto, has released a statement about the importance of contraflow lanes and stressed that action from the Minister of Transportation is necessary: “We urge the Minister to provide the clarity needed to allow Toronto to get back to installing contraflow bike lanes.”
Help us get the message across.
Sign the petition and ask the Province to support, not prevent, better cycling infrastructure and allow contraflow lanes in our city!
